2 is better than 1

and with that BLG reference I will tell you about July 12 and 13.

so HI.
this will be the last blog I’ll be writing while being in the United States of America for the simple reason that I’ll be leaving tomorrow.. AWWW.

Yesterday was again a reaaallyy long day. I woke up around 7.30ish so I could be at 50 Drumm street at 09.30. However. there is no sign that says “HI here’s 50 Drumm street” .. so it took me 4 people and 20 minutes to end up in front of the Hyatt hotel. There this guy told me that “the tour ALWAYS picks up people RIGHT here”. SO i trusted him and waited. and waited. 09.15…09.30…09.45…10.00  NOTHING. so the guy (who works at the hyatt btw) tells me to go to some desk inside the hyatt to let them call the tourguide. So I went inside (OMG THAT PLACE IS GORGEOUS), they called and guess what. they do not pick people up “RIGHT THERE” .. so they already left. without me.
I was told to take a taxi to city light books and to wait there. So I did.. for 15 minutes. then some tourguide walked past me.. so I ran after him “are you from the real SF tour” ..he was.. but not the guy I had spoken to.

not until 10.45ish did i find the group and could i finally join the tour. Which was great btw. you really get to see places you wouldn’t normally see + you get to hear that you need at least a million dollars to buy one of the pretty Victorian houses. let the money saving BEGIN.
I don’t even want to know how much the houses at Marina blvd are.. WAIT.. i’m gonna google [googles] alright. they’re between 3,5 and 4,5 million dollars. HAHA
oh one day.

anyway. I got back to the hotel around 5ish. after walking 6.5 miles (aka 10 km). but it was worth it ;). I then watched Harry Potter 7 part 1.. only because everyone is watching part 2 right now and I want to see it as wellllll…!!

Today I slept in till 11 am. showered, talked to my parents and after that I went to the Amoeba record store (after first taking the bus in the wrong direction xD I hate public transport in san fran.. it’s just not clear. the sign said  HAIGHT STREET . ) anyway, I had to look for a go radio cd for Rana but they didn’t have it :( THEY DID however have BLG .. so tempted to buy a decent copy of RBTL. but I didn’t hehe.

After that I went to the Academy of Science.. Think I’ve seen enough plants, penguins, fish, gators, jellyfish, snakes and turtles for a lifetime after this trip.
The trip back to market/4th street took me over an hour. it was incrediby crowded. but I made it .and I went the right way the first time WOOO.

So now it’s close to 5.30, I have already decided to order in today haha. gonna start packing in a minute.. which will take a looong time because my suitcase is a mess right now (A). wonder how that happpened :P.

Tomorrow I’ll be leaving the hotel around 9ish even though my flight isn’t until 12.55pm :P sigh. I hate waiting at airports :( meh.
But then I will be flying to Seattle, WA which will take 2 hours. Then I’m flying to Reykjavik, which will take 7 hours and 15 minutes..and then I’ll be headed to Amsterdam which will be another 3 hours. JOY.

Thank you for reading all my random blogs about America and leaving comments.
Sorry I couldn’t upload the pictures of the last 3 days.. crappy internet :(.. but if you’re interested you’ll know where to find me hehe.

BYE.

the birdman without birds

BonJour!

Monday July 11th is almost over so It’s time to tell you what I did today.

I got up around 9.30, sloooowly showered and got dressed, had breakfast and took the F line to Pier 39. There I walked around the pier and fisherman’s wharf..exploring all the shops. And went to the Aquarium afterwards.. which wasn’t very interesting :P still didn’t touch any sea creatures.
Then I went to the arcade where I won a monkey :’) WHEE. it even has sound effects. (im such a child :P).

After that I had dinner at in-n-out because Victoria told me to (She trained me well). I’m not a fan. WAY too crowded and burgers and fries were close to being cold.

Around 5.15ish i went to pier 33 where I went on board a boat that took me to Alcatraz Island. There I did an Audio tour which was really interesting (they even had a Dutch one but I did the English one because the original language is ALWAYS better). It really was a great tour. Took me through all cellblocks, dining area, recreation space, visitor area and the place where the guards and their families lived. The audio tour explained life in Alcatraz, the escapes, the riots, everything.
Around 8 I did the “birdman of alcatraz” tour. Also very interesting, especially considering the birdman had no birds when he was IN alcatraz.. only when he was in Kansas :P.

Around 9 I got back to the F line but we were advised NOT to take that one because it was too crowded. so we ran to a bus. which had no driver. so i went back considering I only needed 1 space on the damn thing. nothing.
so i ran back to the bus which now actually had a driver. Drove through China Town once again and now its 10.10 ish and Im back in my hotel.

the end :)

tomorrow is Tuesday which means I’ll be doing the “REAL SF” tour. should be fun.
and Wednesday will be the last day here.. time flies when you’re having fun. though I can’t wait to see everyone again in the netherlands and sleep the entire week next week (:

I’ll try to upload pictures.. but I don’t think it’ll work..
if it doesn’t , you’ll have to wait until I can creep into a starbucks again ;).

lazy.

HI.

Today was my lazy day in San Fran. After yesterday I felt that I could use a day off haha.. so all I did was having breakfast at starbucks (YUP), mainly because they have free WIFI so i could finally upload my pictures of Friday and Saturday.

Then I went back to my hotel to skype with les parents..and the dog :) since I will not be able to do that tomorrow or Tuesday and I need to let them know I’m alive every once in a while ;).

Around 2ish I decided to go to the twin peaks which is quite a trip by public transport.. considering it’s not very reliable here :P but I made it by cable car and bus :P I’m still proud of myself. and when you’re on the top of the peaks you have a great view of San Fran :) so it was worth the climb and trouble etc.

I got on the bus and cable car back and jumped off at - i think it was - 9th street to walk to the city hall. just wanted a picture of that :P.

I had dinner which was really weird. looked and tasted like (going dutch here now) draadjesvlees met aardappelpuree. Which was actually quite good. and I usually hate that hehe.

Then I got back at the hotel around 6. NO. didn’t spend the entire time in my hotelroom.. I went to see a movie :P again.
I saw horrible bosses this time..and I actually had to laugh out loud a few times hehe.

At 10ish I got back to the hotel and saw the last episode of primeval season 5. And now i want a season 6. because this ending just totally blows. :’)

For those interested, this is what I will be doing the rest of the week:
tomorrow:
- fisherman’s wharf..I may or may not go to the aquarium.
- Alcatraz tour

Tuesday (keep thinking that’s tomorrow..so confusing):
- The REAL SF tour (which is from 9.30-4ish)

Wednesday:
-Haight street to go to a HUGE recordshop for Rana :P hehe
-SF science academy.
-packing my HUGE suitcase

Thursday:
- flying back home

don’t forget to make “WE MISSED KIRSTEN” banners if you’re picking me up on Friday. 1pm. be there.

I’m just kidding ;)
